Job Description
Description 

The copy/web editor will work closely with a range of individuals, from ambulatory practice staff and project managers to clinical staff and senior leadership. It is essential this individual understand the target audience(s) and requirement(s).

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Guide the production of new content and writing it in an interesting and appealing manner
  • Review and edit projects for style/branding guidelines and consistency within all projects across a variety of media \
  • Plan the style of copy required and the frequency with which it will need updating
  • Source images and artwork
  • Liaise with internal clients and other hospital departments
  • Answer enquiries emailed to the site and overseeing any message boards
  • Analyze traffic patterns to determine the popularity of the site and how many hits/visits it receives

Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

 

  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Be able to research content, reviewing a variety of sources
  • Be creative, able to alter their style of writing to reflect their audience

  • Have a good eye for typographical errors, such as basic layout inconsistencies, spacing, and differences in copy between versions of a document
  • Be able to simplify and explain complex issues and procedures
  • Be able to follow style guidelines and client briefs
  • Have a broad understanding of copyright laws
  • Be interested in different methods of communication and their impact on driving audience readership
  • Able to develop editorial policies, copyright, data protection and best practice
  • Have computer literacy using a variety of copy editing and authoring tools in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and html
  • Be able to work on their own or in a team
  • Be able to multitask and prioritize work schedules with tight deadlines
  • Be thorough and precise in their work with a good attention to detail
  • Be able to use their initiative


 
Qualifications 

   

  

EDUCATION:  

   

 

Bachelor's in English, Creative Writing, Journalism, or related field

    

EXPERIENCE: 

 

 

Experience using print and web editing software, i.e., Creative Cloud Suite, WordPress

Experience with HTML

Experience with Dreamweaver desired

2-4 years related experience

Experience in healthcare desired
