SUMMARY

NextGen America is currently seeking a creative, self-starting Digital Intern eager to develop and execute winning online campaigns who will join our remote Summer internship program (with a possibility of extension to our fall program).


The Digital Intern will work with the Digital team to engage and grow our email, SMS, and web community to advance our organizing and electoral priorities. We are looking for someone who wants to connect powerful advocacy and campaigning with digital tools and technology to help elect progressives up and down the ballot and advocate for a transformative policy agenda. The ideal candidate has a passion for politics, a commitment to serve marginalized communities, and a belief that young people will make the difference in our democracy


This internship is not limited to college seniors or recent graduates. We also invite and encourage experienced professionals who may be looking for a career change to apply.


This position will be part-time with an expected commitment of 25 hours per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with core day-to-day activities of the Digital team
  • Assist with copywriting for NextGen America's email, SMS, and web actions on issues related to voting, advocacy, organizing, and more
  • Assist in the management of grassroots campaigns from conception to design, execution, and analysis
  • Produce, checklist, and send large-scale email and SMS campaigns
  • Produce and debug NextGen America's website, landing pages, online tools, and subsidiary microsites
  • Produce reports on digital engagement and experiments to NextGen America teams
  • Provide innovative solutions to further bolster NextGen America's digital presence and user experience
  • Track emerging trends in digital storytelling and utilize them effectively
  • Perform other duties as assigned


WHAT WE REQUIRE

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Drive applications
  • Passion for taking political action through the engaging with young people to stand up for progressive values and causes
  • Strong desire to obtain new skills and exposure to working in digital political campaigning
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to produce high-quality work under tight deadlines
  • Creative and flexible
  • Excellent team player

BONUS POINTS FOR

  • Experience with advocacy CRM tools such as NGPVAN/EveryAction, Action Network, Blue State Digital, Convio, or Salsa.
  • Familiarity with HTML and CSS for email coding and landing pages.
  • Familiarity with SMS platforms like MobileCommons.
  • Familiarity with web development and WordPress.
  • Familiarity with graphics and editing tools like the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience with reporting and analytics tools including Google Analytics, Omniture, Facebook Analytics, etc.


COMPENSATION:

NextGen America Interns are part-time, temporary employees with a set pay rate of $20/hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.
