The role reports to the Production Manager and is located in Florence, South Carolina. As a Assembler III, you will be responsible to correctly use machinery, equipment, power tools, and hand tools made available on the floor. Be able to read and interpret the technical diagrams and instructions for assembly of various electro-mechanical products (circuit breakers, relays, switchgear, and contactors). Perform assembly operation consisting of wiring to final completion or refurbishment, on circuit breakers, panels, coil winding and assembly of sub-assemblies and finished parts with small components consisting of such items as capacitors, micro-chips, resistors, transformers, indicators, wires and switches, and printed circuit boards and other products in accordance with product specification sheets, drawings and methods, schedules, and customer needs.

Your responsibilities

  • Conducts all types of assembly work to produce a semi-finished or final product, including the packing where integrated with production lines
  • Work is typically manual using light hand tools
  • Ability to work independently
  • Follow methods and drawing information required to assemble circuit breakers, panels relays/switches/electronic assemblies and other products
  • Skill set may include regular quality testing as part of production process
  • Support quality manufacturing goals, productivity, and on-time shipment goals
  • Report material defects and shortage to supervisor or operational specialist
  • Perform assembly and/or test duties as required by drawings or work instructions
  • Maintain tools, equipment and working area in a clean and orderly condition
  • Perform duties in accordance with the Quality, Safety and Environmental Management Systems and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Assistance in identifying and initiating process, method, or drawing updates/changes
  • Participates in process improvements and cost savings ideas
  • Bench fixtures, hand tools, riveting machines, air/electric drivers, gauges, ohmmeter, and automatic test equipment, winding machines, mandrels, and soldering iron
  • Circuit breaker and circuit breaker assemblies, relay components, relay and FT components, test equipment, modular components, wrist, and foot grounding straps/ESD footwear
  • Follow standard practices and procedures in resolving basic and complex problems. Decisions are usually based on established precedents and may affect quality and accuracy to a degree. Errors may result in lost time and rework
Your background

  • High School degree plus 2 or more years of related experience in assembly. Alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments. Capable of reading and interpreting Engineering configuration and wiring drawings
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret Engineering configuration and wiring drawings
  • Must be able to read, speak and write English
  • Preferred Requirements
  • Ability to solder
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing and electronic component assembly, wiring
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
