What You'll Do in This Position

Seeking to hire an experienced Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality Software Engineer to be part of a new team to support a multi-billion-dollar project at the Savannah River Site. This position requires a motivated and team-oriented individual who can leverage best in class AR/VR and simulation-based technologies to meet the challenges of building and operating a data centric modern manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities Include:
* Architect, develop, deploy, and maintain features for AR/VR applications.
* Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code.
* Perform integration testing as well as collaborating with other internal teams.

* Partner with the AR/VR team at Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) to provide and maintain AR/VR solutions.

* Provide technical guidance and support to Program/Project customers.
* Communicate with project customers and end users.


Scope technical tasks and develop creative solutions to assigned problems. Begin using SRNS systems and meeting SRNS requirements with minimal supervisory guidance. Accepts complex tasks and receives minimal guidance from senior professionals. Incorporate conventional engineering or scientific practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning. Provide limited guidance and direction to less senior engineering professionals. Carry out development and qualification programs on tasks concurrent with other phases such as design and fabrication to better evaluate and minimize future problems. Develop alternate solutions to existing problems. Perform all detail work necessary to determine best solutions. Evaluate proposals and make recommendations based on proposed projects/tasks in area of assignment. May delegate portions of the detail work to less senior personnel. Prepare costs and schedule estimates on proposed projects/tasks in assigned area. Demonstrate cost and schedule consciousness through timely completion of assigned tasks and projects. Prepare manuals and other documents supporting or publicizing the technical effort. Demonstrate creative ability through medium of patent disclosures, problem solving, engineering reports, technical papers and articles.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. Qualifications We Require

Bachelor degree in applicable science or engineering discipline

Other Qualifications

Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required.

Qualifications We Desire

* Bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering.
* Professional experience developing virtual and augmented reality applications in Unreal or Unity.
* Experience developing 3D models using Blender, Maya, Navisworks, CREO or other 3D development tools.
* Experience developing interactive applications for virtual reality and/or mixed reality.
* Working knowledge of Python, C++, C#, and JavaScript.
* Knowledge of Scrum/Agile development framework.
* Experience working with on-prem cloud computing platforms.
* Proficiency with Git or comparable version control system.
* Experience updating and patching AR/VR Hardware and Software
* Experience managing version control.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Advanced degree in a technical field and/or technical management experience is desirable.
* Understanding of Industry Standards, Software Quality Assurance, Cyber Security, and Process Operations.

Has mastered technical field, is recognized as internal expert, has depth of knowledge to tackle any problem in field.

Contributes to advancing knowledge.

Understands and applies advanced knowledge of discipline's standard theories, concepts, principles and techniques.

Working knowledge of standard engineering/scientific practices and applications.
