Overview

Abacus Technology is seeking an Engineering Technician to provide technical support for the Command, Control, Communication, Intelligence and Networks (C3I&N) Directorate at Hanscom AFB. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities
    Support requirements development and documentation for Tactical Data Link communication systems.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and technical review documentation against criteria from System Requirements Documents.
  • Perform system integration and testing activities for tactical data links, ensuring seamless interoperability with existing communication systems.
  • Provide troubleshooting and resolution of hardware issues to minimize downtime and maintain operational readiness.
  • Generate and maintain system documentation, including system configurations, test procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Qualifications

15+ years experience in engineering including at least 5 years in a DoD environment. Bachelor's degree in a related field. Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree requirements. Experience developing and designing RF Line of Site communications components (e.g., radios, transceivers, amplifiers, antennas). Experience with Tactical Data Link waveforms and protocols such as Link-16, Tactical Digital Information Link (TADIL) J Message Standard (MIL-STD-6016B), Open Mission Systems (OMS) and Universal Command and Control (C2) Interface (UCI), SATURN, and Digital Time Division Command/Response Multiplex Data Bus (MIL-STD-1553C). Able to provide configuration control and maintenance of tactical data link equipment, including radios, antennas, and associated hardware, ensuring adherence to established standards. Familiar with standards and certifications such as MIL-STD-464D: Electromagnetic Environmental Effects Requirements for Systems; MIL-STD-882E: DoD Standard Practice for System Safety; MIL-HDBK-338B: Electronic Reliability Design Handbook; and MIL-STD-461G: Requirements for the Control of Electromagnetic Interference Characteristics of Subsystems and Equipment. Able to collaborate with cross-functional teams and technical support to end-users. Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
